@jansen you've definitely hit the relays a bit too hard I feel.

I'd see which instances they're coming from and suspend, but that's just my opinion.‍️

I can deal with unwanted bot-instances, easy to block on instance level. It's more the ratio of bots to users that's overwhelming and how there's a "a lot" of them on every large instance. I don't want to completely block the big instances, that's why I use relays after all - But individually muting them on my account or using the admin system to block them (as not to waste capacity on hosting their content) is tedious.

There's probably a good solution floating around, I just don't know about it.

If there's a good solution, I'd love to know it because I just endlessly ban on my instance.‍️

I also use relay.fedi.buzz for more finetuned relays.
