I wish I can connect with people better.

I feel so isolated. I guess I am IRL, so it's not far from reality.

The few times I've tried have gone varying degrees of bad or just uninterested.

@BeAware I was blown away by the Lake Lanier connection, and you aren't alone. Several of my friends have echoed the same thing. This place is cool (much of the time) but nothing replaces IRL connections and support network. Where are you now.

I find life here uninteresting as hell.

Poverty is high, so there's a lot of drugs and alcohol use, if you're not into ingesting some kinda substances. Given that most substances are illegal, alcohol is the most used and seems to be Louisiana's "hobby". Which does not vibe with me. Also, everyone else having to work for a living, while I cannot, makes it harder.

@BeAware @SrRochardBunson I notice that online social tends to really increase my feelings of loneliness. I have to balance it out with real life hangouts and activities. When I don’t have the IRL activities then being online too much can really knock me for a loop.

@HitokiriEric @SrRochardBunson the issue is, there's no IRL connections to be had, so if I don't come here, I basically get no human interaction.

@BeAware Ah, yeah that sucks friend. Calisober here, so Louisiana doesn't offer much for me these days. The drinking culture there is unparalleled.

@BeAware Thanks, that’s always seemingly the tough thing with the Fediverse, following people, but not actually having a real connection with people. I feel that in the formative days of Twitter there used to be local tweetups where I met a ton of people IRL

@jbwharris that would be cool! Fedi needs to get quite a bit bigger before that can happen, I'm afraid.
