Which is better - Having separate Mastodon and Pixelfed accounts or focusing purely on Mastodon and asking people to subscribe to that account on Pixelfed if they want to just see my posts with images?

@kevingamin not sure the difference? Both options you have here would require 2 accounts and for people to follow them.

To me, this reads "Should I have 2 accounts or should I have TWO accounts?"

I'm very confused.

@BeAware Second option means I have one account (Mastodon). Anybody who follows me on Pixelfed would only see posts with photos in them.

First option is where I have a Mastodon AND a Pixelfed account and I post to both depending on whether or not there's a photo involved.

@kevingamin ahh. Okay. Makes sense now. that was probably my brain forgetting how Pixelfed works with posts that aren't pics.

@kevingamin I chose the 1 account option. It's not the popular one so far it seems, but it's my personal preference. I have a dream of "one account to rule them all" and hope we can eventually get there.

@BeAware I feel that's part of the point of the Fediverse. You have many options, so pick the one which fits your goals. People can follow you in so many ways.
