@aliasless them being replies still doesn't mean they necessarily need to notify. also i don't think they are replies at the spec level, they're just specially tagged links (but they probably should be replies is my hot take)

@aliasless anyway the larger point is that notifying the person you are replying to or quoting or whatever is merely a courtesy of the person doing the replying or quoting or whatever
