Mastodon is similar to Twitter, but with less bigots for the most part.

New users typically like to post an #Introduction, littered with hashtags that are related to their interests so others with similar interests can find easily.

There's many other platforms on the Fediverse besides Mastodon, so if Mastodon doesn't suit you, you can always ask for recommendations for a different platform using the Fediverse hashtag. I'm sure someone will help out.

@BeAware @impressdivinity hmm ... my experience about less bigots is the same, but it should be noted that Mastodon is better that Twitter at permitting targeted bigotry -- and many people of color report a lot of it (and get screamed at for telling us about it).

Though, I would hope that if the targeted bigotry is reported correctly, it would be dealt with swiftly.

However, if it is not, then I would recommend migrating to a better moderated instance.
