I don’t know if this will help folks or not, but one key to my AWESOME Mastodon experience has been to create a “read first” list and add accounts I really like to it.

As the name implies, that’s where I start each time I open @ivory. In this way I don’t miss out on the stuff I value most.
Btw, Ivory lets me remove folks in that list from my regular timeline, which is where I go when I’m done w/ Read First.

@User47 both of these things are normal Mastodon features.
Just thought it should be noted that you don't need a specific app with a subscription to do this.

@BeAware glad you noted that. Boosted for visibility. I find that the Ivory crew is often ahead of mastodon in adding features which mastodon eventually picks up, or implements totally differently

@User47 nice! I haven't had that experience yet as I've only been subbed for a few months so far and everything I've seen them add has been normal Mastodon festures that people just don't know about.
Hashtag lists was one of the most recent ones which you can do on the website via the "advanced web interface" and adding a hashtag as a "timeline".
They have added quote posts, which are nice, I just wish I could choose to not notify the person because sometimes I want to have a seperate discussion about their post without bothering them or sidelining their OP. IceCubes let's me do this, so I go back and forth between a few different apps depending on my needs.
