We have a good amount of possibilities to fight this behavior here. We can block entire misbehaving instances with just a few clicks. I feel at peace.

@panda soon enough we'll have blocking replies, which is very good to stop harassment and I don't see another way. However, a "community notes" feature would work to combat the misinformation that comes from it. I hope someone implements both.
