This feels like Facebook to me. I post things and use tags, but no one sees or responds to anything. Am I doing something wrong?

@hamlin81 I am still making friends here myself. Mostly I interact by replying to someone's toot. It feels more like growing a real relationship, which usually happens slowly. I don't always get a response to my own toots either. Hang in there
Have tried following some group events or watch alongs?

@BrambleBearWhuffling How do I find those? I'm still much more of a text person, but I suppose I can try it.

Just saw thus post, thought you might be interested in a sci fi book club if it gets off the ground again. Post linked below.

Are any of you participating in a sci-fi or maybe non-fiction book club on here? I think there might be book clubs already... I think it could be really fun to pick a book and have a lot of people read it and discuss it with a good hash tag to keep the conversation together. But, I suspect maybe someone has tried to start this already or it's happening and I just don't know under what tags.

@BrambleBearWhuffling I'm confused. When I click on the link it asks me to log in. I'm already logged in. Do I have to make a separate account? Someone else sent me a link like this and it did the same thing.

@BeAware ok. I'm still really confused about the instances. Thank you. I'll do that.

@hamlin81 it's like email, you're signed up on mastodon.social and can communicate with anyone on other sites connected to the Fediverse.
Similar to how you can be signed up on Gmail and talk to those on Yahoo, outlook, etc.
However, to communicate, you need their "address". Sometimes it's the username itself, sometimes it's the URL if it's a specific post.
Hope that makes sense.
