@aetios yeah and the worst part is sony is going down the same route rn. their xperia mark 6 series is more "mainstream" than before but not "mainstream" enough to get people to consider buying it over samsung or google. if they exit the mobile phone market i'm gonna be so out of options it's not funny. all moves like this do is piss off the niche core audience, and it's extremely debatable on whether it actually nets any additional income or survivability

@aetios i was #teamhtc from 2009-2016 but the writing was on the wall by that point. i switched to sony and it's been okay until basically just this year. i have no idea what i'm gonna do in the future.

anyway this is basically an analogy for social networking. htc was early twitter, sony is what fedi is lookin like right about now.
