The way Minecraft does "chunk loading" is always so fascinating to me.
If you're not within a 3x3 chunk radius, the chunks don't load.
That means if I die while cooking steak and decide to ragequit, theoretically someone 10 years from now could find my base with my steak still cooking.

I came across a base with obvious creeper damage and the furnaces still burning. I opened them and found fish in the process of cooking.

I do this to myself with like 75% of games. I log off and don't log back in for a LONG time.
