Threads make it easier to show people how to turn on Fediverse sharing:
Threads makes it easier to evangelize the open social web with a new direct link feature | TechCrunch
It’s a small advance, but one that speaks to Meta’s enginerring team paying attention to how the fediverse community is trying to educate Threads users about the possibilities.
TechCrunch (techcrunch.com)
tl;dr just share this link with them:
Very handy! Hope Bluesky do something similar.

@hallenbeck I wonder if it simply brings them to the settings page.
I saw a post earlier scrutinizing this as more of a "warning" rather than an invitation because of the wording on the page that seems very cautionary.

@hallenbeck @BeAware yeah I do but it should just open IG for me instead of asking me to log into the website

@hallenbeck @BeAware it works if I manually go to the settings page on my threads account but I post a link people will need to log onto the threads website and then it takes them there rather than taking them there in-app.

@paulk_ @hallenbeck what if you're already logged in on both IG and threads and click the link? it goes to the same page?
-

@BeAware @hallenbeck yep it still forces you to the website, a bit silly tbh.

@paulk_ @hallenbeck yeah, that is a bit silly. Though, the wording seems fine. Thanks for doing this experiment for us Meta wary folks!

@BeAware @hallenbeck wip I guess but threads are getting there, the explanation page is a good step. More than I can say for BlueSky!

@paulk_ @hallenbeck Well, they do have BridgyFed, which almost completely working and a third party bridge made by one guy. In comparison, Threads is a multibillion dollar company and the way they're doing it makes it seem very sus to us Meta wary folks.
