Mastodon Gmbh is a non-profit in Germany and US, but still a company, just one that isn't driven by profits. Which is good in a way.

However, it is driven by one man's goals and I cannot trust those goals given the way some people are silenced on .social based on their political opinion not aligning with his....

Take from that whatever you want, but I worry that since Fediverse is 73% Mastodon, they can do almost anything they want and "Fediverse" gets the scrutiny because people conflate the terms.

That's why they still refuse to add useful moderation tools. They don't have to if you don't know there's other Fediverse softwares to choose from.
