If it's not, the issue is that 99.9% of people don't know about Fediverse nor that they can opt-in, which is currently causing the entire thing to be almost useless.
Joke might have flown over my head though.

As I’ve always said, there are enough granular blocking controls in individual ActivityPub and ATProto accounts to handle this.
My opinion: People have gotten used to walled gardens and have lost the concept of being in charge of their own internet experience.
