The original scrape script heavily depended on instances.social to "learn" about new instances. My take on this script uses a seed instance to "land and expand" getting peers from /api/v1/instance/peers endpoint. The process repeats until every known URL has been checked for more instances. Instances are checked for user and post counts. The last date post counts grew used to verify an instance is still "active".
