@hongminhee so, the good news is that I can use the Fedify CLI to do an authorized fetch for an actor, and the debug output shows that RFC 9421 signatures worked. πŸ₯³ The bad news is that the follow test still doesn't work. 🫀 I'll keep trying and see what I can do.

Friends, if you haven't already, it would be a big favour to me if you could enable tags.pub to boost your public tagged posts.

Just search for @_followback in your Mastodon UI. Click the follow button there. (Don't try to follow from the profile page; it doesn't work yet.)

It will follow you back, and when you make a post with a hashtag in it, the server will boost your post from the appropriate hashtag.

      #tagspub #hashtags #activitypub

@evan I read years ago that multi-word tags should be done in CamelCase, for the benefit of screenreaders. So when I take my posts, I'm careful to do so. It appears however that tags.pub lowercases all my tags.

I understand that it shouldn't create separate accounts for tags that vary only by capitalisation, but when creating a new account, why not preserve the capitalisation of the original tag?

@evan But here is a concern or maybe I am missing something. Every time I use a hashtag I get a boost notification from its account on tags.pub. This is excessive noise. It puts a burden on having to put a mute on each account?

@cogdog @evan Yeah, this is a problem for me. When I make a post, I often have multiple hashtags, and so it's echoed back to my notifications feed multiple times.

I guess I could mute the canpol@tags.pub, cdnpoli@tags.pub etc. accounts...

@mpjgregoire I second the thanks @evan I can sense this is far from simple and I want to support tags.pub.

I'm going to try just turning off notifications for boosts, I don't really need to see them, always prefer a genuine reply.

And if you're interested in a hashtag, search for thathashtag at-symbol tags.pub in your Mastodon search UI and follow it there. It will boost all the content it finds with that tag to you.

                Question please ~
Did you include e.v.e.r.y single word & topic under the Sun for those hashtag bot accounts?

@solarbranka ha! No. We create new accounts when new hashtags are received. So when I tag this post with a random string like #aX5pPVDI tags.pub will create that new account and broadcast from it. The platform we used to build tags.pub, activitypub-bot, uses very little resources per account, so it's not a big burden.

                    Ok, thanks. Sounds sophisticated tech.
I noticed they boost nearly every hashtag I include in my posts. πŸ™ƒ
