@damon @snow unfortunately their track record and yes, insane amount of funding, doesn't give them the grace that others would have.

If a small team with very little funding can do it for a platform they don't even work for, there's absolutely no reason Meta couldn't do it for Threads in 4x as much time. BridgyFed has been live for about 9 months and wasn't made by people that work at Bluesky.‍️

"By the end of the year" was an ample amount of time and they don't have much reason to miss that deadline beyond their lack of care about Fedi.

Well...30 more days till I'll have to defederate from Threads for not fulfilling their promise of fully federating by the end of the year.

Will they pull it off? Doesn't seem likely at this point.‍️

The Australian government will probably tell them to implement some sort of age verification and they could fine them if they don't. Mastodon is a registered Gmbh in Germany which are considered legal persons under German, Swiss, and Austrian law.

@mpj17 that COULD be it. However, the ability to edit the maximum post length is fairly simple for Mastodon admins, just a few file edits.

@Azzura yeah, it's strange but I think that's because on Fediverse, especially Mastodon, admins can see DMs if one is reported like a normal post. It's not as "private" as most would hope. There's no private encryption at all as far as I know.

Anyone know if Sharkey has properly implemented the Mastodon API yet so that apps like Ivory and IceCubesApp can be properly used?

I tried back in May and despite their advertising of the feature, it was basically non-existent and I haven't been keeping up with development.

For awhile now, when interacting with people online, i've had this philosophy of "Don't trust anyone!". Meaning don't let anyone I talk to, too close to me personally cause I usually get fucked over pretty hard.

Let my guard down a little too much on 2b2t and was screwed over yet again. So, back to sticking to that philosophy as hard as I can.‍️

People keep proving that friends don't exist and everyone is just trying to gain an advantage in someway.
