I've been working on a highly customizable multiplatform fediverse client, similar to bridging technologies that exist currently but a bit more seamless and robust, and focused on the indieweb vibe and personal customization overall. Excited to get it out there for testing, but I am really enjoying what I have so far. #interop #atproto #activitypub #retro #indieweb

If you are reading this, then it's already too late.
This is a fictional community meant to enhance my creative skills as well as other people creative skills and to waste more time on Lemmy. Why? You might ask… Well, I had never seen any one apply this idea before and we are entering a age where a lot of stories is going to be AI-Generated. Why a king? Will, I need to be super motivated to engage, so hopefully this community stay alive. What is the content like here? This is probably going to be something like just me posting and shitposting+ roleplay/fiction stories and lore. Why should you join? You shouldn’t. This community might not be something that benefits you or even advance your creativity. You can treat that like unfinished unprofessional art work that is almost never going to be finished. I might delete this community later, I might not delete it who knows? But I really don’t want to surrender to AI and lose my creativity, so hopefully some people might enjoy role-playing as my minions and the friction create fire(Which is stories and lore). I want to stay weird, I don’t want to become another gear in the machine of life. Who knows maybe I click with someone in this community and we get something real. I don’t like bullshit and I don’t like to invite greatness that I am not worth, I just want to have a place that is super comfy to me. The world is getting ruined, people are getting more conservative, social media is being ruined and climate change is going full speed and we are in a loneliness epidemic. Most people are evil and rude and we are in the hopeless age. Fiction can fix all of that and more. In case that after you read all of this and you became interested for a reason or another, you can subscribe.

Je trouve que l'interface de Vernissage @vernissage est plus interéssante que celle de Pixelfed.
Elle fonctionne très bien sur le Fediverse avec ActivityPub et bien sur, elle est open source.I think the interface of Vernissage @vernissage@mastodon.socials is more interesting than that of Pixelfed.
It works very well on the Fediverse with ActivityPub, and of course, it's open source.

@WeirdWriter That's a huge load of work done by one person. 'Lightweight' is a relative term; this thing is a full-blown docker appliance with loads of functionality. It looks really good.I suspect a lot of these types of projects are going to appear over the next two or three years. All the people creating their own private space on the Internet have the potential to release their development efforts as this kind of appliance. We live in interesting times #indieweb #selfhost -
#^Der Pepe probiert wieder mal was: snac2

#ActivityPub developers: which of these HTTP caching headers does your software publish or consume?

Friends, if you haven't already, it would be a big favour to me if you could enable tags.pub to boost your public tagged posts.
Just search for @_followback in your Mastodon UI. Click the follow button there. (Don't try to follow from the profile page; it doesn't work yet.)
It will follow you back, and when you make a post with a hashtag in it, the server will boost your post from the appropriate hashtag.
-
As always, we are looking for people to help test, this time single-user instance self-hosting. If you are interested in a activitypub-enabled self-host linktree alternative check https://github.com/tryvocalcat/fediprofile now with SingleUser mode enabled!

Progress report on my #activitypub server I'm writing because I'm bored at my in-laws':
I'm back home again. Haven't given up, just postponed it a bit.

Idea for experiment: mail to fediverse?
My ambition: having people writing to "username @ domain dot ext" and mail content goes into public, or private, on fediverse "handle @ domain . ext".
Someone already did it? Pros and cons? Disadvantages are more than benefits?
I heard about a trick called "mail2mastodon" but before doing deeper research I first wanted to understand how the effort is, and if it's worth.
-
The reason Mastodon-flavor ActivityPub has been stagnant for most of the last decade is the only people who take the lingering cultural and structural issues seriously are working on what comes _next_
It really ought to concern anyone who still believes in this place that AP doesn't have its own event to match AtmosphereConf. There was exactly one over half a decade ago. All the energy at the 2026 event was exponential starting from the 2025 event. The PLC directory is headed to the independent org announced there. The IETF has the protocol. It's happening, right now.
If you're looking at Bluesky, you're looking at where the puck is, not where it's going.
You want more people to use AP? Stop complaining about people building on and using AT and start trying to understand why they are. I've been saying this for years now and nothing's changed on this side.

How to Install #Pleroma on #Ubuntu #VPS (5 Minute Quick-Start Guide)
This article provides a guide demonstrating how to install Pleroma on Ubuntu VPS.
What is Pleroma?
Pleroma is a free, open-source, self-hostable microblogging server that speaks the #ActivityPub federation protocol—so your users can interact with people on other #Fediverse platforms (e.g., Mastodon) while you keep full control over your server ...

Tweaked my #wordpress #activitypub config to use only the Blog as the Actor, instead of both Blog and Author. Now, the Blog actor federates posts directly, rather than boosting posts from each Author.
Has anyone else tried this? Did it cause any issues with boosted Author posts that were previously federated?
Would I need to “repost” all previously federated content for it to appear under the Blog Actor?

Does anyone have a good #ActivityPub integration for #Hugo? I'd like a link to posts to be published and then show comments on the blog. I've seen a few people get it to work.

Yesterday I shared Discover more of the Fediverse with tags.pub in my Pook-Emu Bee links for the day. The post introduces a new feature for the ActivityPub for WordPress plugin: Subscribing a site to the tags.pub relay for hashtag boosting. It provides the following instructions for self-hosted WordPress sites such as this one:
For self-hosted WordPress sites, head to Settings → ActivityPub → Settings and scroll to the Relay section. Add one of these URLs:
- Inbox: https://tags.pub/user/_____relay_____/inbox
- Shared Inbox: https://tags.pub/shared/inbox
The instructions offer two URLs and say “[a]dd one.” I added the second because it is more aesthetic. But I did wonder what the difference was between the two URLs. So too did commenter bocops:
Could you explain the difference between the “Inbox” and the “Shared Inbox” relay URLs?
Post author and ActivityPub for WordPress developer Matthias Pfefferle answered the question:
from a user perspective there is none. you can use either one of them!
While the instructions do say “[a]dd one of these URLs” and I interpreted the instructions correctly in the first instance, I will offer my two-cent take that it does raise a question why there are two URLs and how they may differ. I dealt (and will deal again) with this issue regarding site feeds. On NLJ, I make a point of promoting various feed formats, namely RSS, ATOM, RDF, and JSON. However, I am sensitive to the fact that many readers may not be familiar with feeds, much less different formats. Thus, I explain that RSS (our default) and ATOM should work in all feed readers, so most people should use one of those formats (usually RSS since that is the WordPress default at /feed/) unless they have a specific reason to use JSON (which I use to subscribe to NLJ in Miniflux) or RDF (that seems less likely but maybe there are some RDF fans out there). Regarding the tags.pub post, I would recommend offering one link as a sort of “default” while adding a note (or footnote) on the distinction (if any) for people who may be interested.
All that aside, tags.pub works for me and is a very nice feature for WordPress sites (both .com and .org) taking advantage of new Fediverse features. I tip my hat to Mr. Pfefferle and everyone who is working on it.
