@rriemann Discourse is totally on my list - how does it compare to Lemmy?

How do fedi people feel about Matrix in 2026? Context: I am looking at some options for hosting a community with persistent communication (i.e. not mastodon style).

Ideally I would just use old-school mailing lists but self-hosting those seems impossible given restrictions on email nowadays.
