and i am NOT asking people to CW tech posts, or be ashamed about being interested in tech. i'm just kind of eulogizing a mastodon that did not come to pass and tbh may never come to pass, which is ok. is what it is

when I look at mastodon, no matter how much I tune the filter, 20-40% of the feed is tech posts I don’t understandone of the saddest parts about the fediverse not getting more of twitters migrants, for me, is that there aren’t enough different types of people here to lower the ratio of tech posts in the feed

when I look at mastodon, no matter how much I tune the filter, 20-40% of the feed is tech posts I don’t understandfor those of us who don’t work in computers or want to work in computers, it’s a significant distraction and sort of takes attention away from things I’d rather be spending it on tbh. a sign of how hegemonic tech posting is here is that we’re supposed to tag politics so tech people can avoid them but no one ever would tag tech posts so politics people (or any other group) can avoid them

a truly beautiful & insightful conversation about holocaust memory, the necessity of comparison, and the urgent call to heal & release genocidal logics on a planetary scale; and how we start that healing through the intentional comparison and connectin...on the need to look to pre-Holocaust diasporic Jewish philosophies of the 20s/30s for alternatives to Zionism
“zionism is spiritually hollow for people. you can only narrow a people’s political imagination for so long before they start looking for alternatives…
the militarization of Jewish life and identity is a novel phenomena, one that is only made possible by a complete narrowing of Jewish memory”

a truly beautiful & insightful conversation about holocaust memory, the necessity of comparison, and the urgent call to heal & release genocidal logics on a planetary scale; and how we start that healing through the intentional comparison and connectin...they’re drawing on many references here to say that this is not about finding equivalence. equivalence may be irrelevant. it’s about finding parallels in logic between genocides. and when we look deeply at the german Holocaust and beyond even our sometimes narrower popular conceptions of it, we find actually even more to compare
the point being that without drawing these lines, we cannot identify how we as humans abandon genocide as a way of being on our planet and also with our planet
