<details><summary>If you are reading this, then it's already too late.</summary><p>This is a fictional community meant to enhance my creative skills as well as other people creative skills and to waste more time on Lemmy.
Why? You might ask…
Well, I had never seen any one apply this idea before and we are entering a age where a lot of stories is going to be AI-Generated.
Why a king? Will, I need to be super motivated to engage, so hopefully this community stay alive.
What is the content like here? This is probably going to be something like just me posting and shitposting+ roleplay/fiction stories and lore.
Why should you join? You shouldn’t. This community might not be something that benefits you or even advance your creativity. You can treat that like unfinished unprofessional art work that is almost never going to be finished. I might delete this community later, I might not delete it who knows?
But I really don’t want to surrender to AI and lose my creativity, so hopefully some people might enjoy role-playing as my minions and the friction create fire(Which is stories and lore). I want to stay weird, I don’t want to become another gear in the machine of life.
Who knows maybe I click with someone in this community and we get something real. I don’t like bullshit and I don’t like to invite greatness that I am not worth, I just want to have a place that is super comfy to me.
The world is getting ruined, people are getting more conservative, social media is being ruined and climate change is going full speed and we are in a loneliness epidemic. Most people are evil and rude and we are in the hopeless age. Fiction can fix all of that and more.
In case that after you read all of this and you became interested for a reason or another, you can subscribe.

<p><strong>Comic Strips</strong> is a community for those who love comic stories.</p>
<h5>Rules</h5>
<ol>
<li>
<p><strong>
Be Nice!</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Treat others with respect and dignity. Friendly banter is okay, as long as it is mutual; keyword: <strong>friendly</strong>.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>
️ Community Standards</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Comics should be a full story, from start to finish, in one post.</li>
<li>Posts should be safe and enjoyable by the majority of community members, both here on lemmy.world and other instances.</li>
<li>Any comic that would qualify as raunchy, lewd, or otherwise draw unwanted attention by nosy coworkers, spouses, or family members should be tagged as NSFW.</li>
<li>Moderators have final say on what and what does not qualify as appropriate. Use common sense, and if need be, err on the side of caution.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>🧬 Keep it Real</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Comics should be made and posted by real human beans, not by automated means like bots or AI. This is not the community for that sort of thing.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>
️ Credit Where Credit is Due</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Comics should include the original attribution to the artist(s) involved, and be unmodified. Bonus points if you include a link back to their website. When in doubt, use a <a href="https://tineye.com/" rel="nofollow">reverse image search</a> to try to find the original version. Repeat offenders will have their posts removed, be temporarily banned from posting, or if all else fails, be permanently banned from posting.</li>
<li>Attributions include, but are not limited to, watermarks, links, or other text or imagery that artists add to their comics to use for identification purposes. If you find a comic without any such markings, it would be a good idea to see if you can find an original version. If one cannot be found, say so and ask the community for help!</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>
Post Formatting</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Post an image, gallery, or link to a specific comic hosted on another site; e.g., the author’s website.</li>
<li>Meta posts about the community should be tagged with [Meta] either at the beginning or the end of the post title.</li>
<li>When linking to a comic hosted on another site, ensure the link is to the comic itself and not just to the website; e.g., <br />
Correct: <a href="https://xkcd.com/386/">xkcd.com/386/</a> <br />
Incorrect: <a href="https://xkcd.com/">xkcd.com</a></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>
Post Frequency/SPAM</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Each user (regardless of instance) may post up to five (5
) comics a day. This can be any combination of personal comics you have written yourself, or other author’s comics. Any comics exceeding five (5
) will be removed.</li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>
️ Internationalization (i18n)</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Non-English posts are welcome. Please tag the post title with the original language, and include an English translation in the body of the post; e.g., <br />
<code>Sí, por favor [Spanish/Español]</code></li>
</ul>
</li>
<li>
<p><strong>
Moderation</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>We are human, just like most everybody else on Lemmy. If you feel a moderation decision was made in error, you are welcome to reach out to anybody on the moderation team for clarification. Keep in mind that moderation decisions may be final.</li>
<li>When reporting posts and/or comments, quote which rule is being broken, and why you feel it broke the rules.</li>
</ul>
</li>
</ol>
<h5>Banned Artists</h5>
<p>The following artists are banned from the community.</p>
<ol>
<li>Jago</li>
<li>Stonetoss</li>
<li>GPrime85</li>
</ol>
<p>It should be noted that when you make reports, it is your responsibility to provide rational reasoning why something should be removed. Saying it simply breaks community rules is not always good enough.</p>
<h5>Web Accessibility</h5>
<blockquote>
<p>Note: This is not a rule, but a helpful suggestion.</p>
</blockquote>
<p>When posting images, you should strive to add alt-text for screen readers to use to describe the image you’re posting:</p>
<ul>
<li><a href="https://fedecan.ca/en/guide/lemmy/for-users/markdown#links-images" rel="nofollow">Markdown - Links / Images</a></li>
</ul>
<p>Another helpful thing to do is to provide a transcription of the text in your images, as well as brief descriptions of what’s going on. (<a href="https://lemmy.world/post/45416843" rel="nofollow">example</a>)</p>
<h5>Web of Links</h5>
<ul>
<li>!linuxmemes@lemmy.world: “I use Arch btw”</li>
<li>!memes@lemmy.world: memes (you don’t say!)</li>
</ul>

<h4>What is global news?</h4>
<p>Something that happened or was uncovered recently anywhere in the world. It doesn’t have to have global implications. Just has to be informative in some way.</p>
<hr />
<h3>Post guidelines</h3>
<details><summary>Title format</summary><p>Post title should mirror the news source title. If you don’t like the title of article, look for an alternative source instead of editorializing it.
</p></details>
<details><summary>URL format</summary><p>Post URL should be the original link to the article (even if paywalled) and archived copies left in the body. It allows avoiding duplicate posts when cross-posting.
</p></details>
<details><summary>[Opinion] prefix</summary><p>Opinion (op-ed) articles must use [Opinion] prefix before the title. Opinion articles refer to articles that their publisher doesn’t explictly endorse.
</p></details>
<details><summary>Country prefix</summary><p>Country prefix can be added to the title with a separator (<code>|</code>, <code>:</code>, etc.) if the news is from a local publisher who doesn’t clearly mention the country.
</p></details>
<hr />
<h3>Rules</h3>

</p></details>
<details><summary>3. Respectful communication</summary><p>All communication has to be respectful of differing opinions, viewpoints, and experiences.
</p></details>
<details><summary>4. Inclusivity</summary><p>Everyone is welcome here regardless of age, body size, visible or invisible disability, ethnicity, sex characteristics, gender identity and expression, education, socio-economic status, nationality, personal appearance, race, caste, color, religion, or sexual identity and orientation. Any kind of discrimination is will not be tolerated.
</p></details>
<details><summary>5. Ad hominem attacks</summary><p>Any kind of personal attacks are expressly forbidden. If you can’t argue your position without attacking a person’s character, you already lost the argument.<br />
</p></details>
<details><summary>6. Off-topic tangents</summary><p>Stay on topic. Keep it relevant.
</p></details>
<details><summary>7. Instance rules may apply</summary><p>If something is not covered by community rules, but are against <a href="https://lemmy.zip/" rel="nofollow">lemmy.zip</a> instance rules, they will be enforced.

Hi Evan,
you are the developer of tags.pub, right?!
It looks to me, that tags.pub works with HTTP Message Signatures according to RFC 9421 only. It this correct? No support for Signing HTTP Messages using draft-cavage-http-signatures-12?
I'm trying to teach my #ActivityPub based server named #Mammuthus RFC 9421, but currently it isn't really working... sigh.
So, if you see some weird follow requests on tags.pub from a #Mammuthus instance that looks like a test, it could be me...
Using Draft Cavage 12 i get a 400 back.
Switching to RFC 9421 (work in progress, testing), it results in a 401... and now also in a 400.Still investigating...
Just wanted to let you know, i'm a testing developer, not a weird spammer or bot or...

And i appreciate, when you confirm my observations...

I absolutely love @itchio@mastodon.social . It's the best way to find new and interesting games.
I see that #Itch has links to different socials.
I wonder how difficult it would be, should they be interested, in actually implementing #ActivityPub inside of Itch?
This would allow software developers to just use Itch as their platform to post their games and communicate with others.
Itch already supports a comments section. Configuring AP anyone anywhere in the world could the comment on a game as well.
We could follow a developer from our open socials and when a developers posts a comment or posts a game, we'd get it everywhere.
Just thinking this would be really interesting idea. I don't know how much work or how feasible it would be, but it'd support developers, it'd support Itch ( by allowing folks on the Fediverse anywhere to follow and know that it's only Itch that you can do this on) and it'd support the wider Fediverse as we whole.
Love to hear thoughts, comments, suggestions, and even if it's just a silly idea that isn't really practical.

First 100: BadgeFed Explorer
The verified Badge was issued to @lqdev
You ventured into uncharted territory and helped shape the BadgeFed project from the start. As one of the first 100 testers, your curiosity, feedback, and bug-finding instincts helped stabilize the platform. The fediverse will always remember your role in getting us off the ground—one crash, typo, and glorious bug report at a time.
Earning Criteria: Awarded to the first 100 individuals who actively participated in the early testing phase of BadgeFed. This includes exploring the platform, submitting feedback or bug reports, and generally poking around where things probably weren’t ready yet. These badges are limited—no retroactive claims, no reruns, no exceptions. You were here. You mattered..
Issued on: 04/11/2025 17:57:58

Announcing it here publicly for the first time!
I've been building a general purpose activitypub pwa.
Follow @nuages for official updates!

What's the scene with #activitypub / #fediverse development? Why do I keep hearing that developing software for fedi or ap is a major pain in the butt?

Some context does involve me opening up to this person and they telling me it's cute that I open over text, being lonely might make me get attached to them quickly.
The whole thought is if they didn't have same feelings about me; should I be open and say I should pursue a healthy relationship or just not say anything and let it come out through my actions

Miami (AFP) – Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth visited the US military base at Guantanamo Bay on Wednesday, warning the communist-led island of Cuba against acquiring weapons that could threaten the United States.
Washington has ramped up pressure against Cuba with sanctions and a crippling oil blockade, and President Donald Trump has repeatedly signaled that the Cuban government could be the next to fall to US pressure, after Venezuela in January.
"It would be unwise for the government of Cuba to try to procure or get access to the types of weapons that could reach this base or the American homeland," Hegseth said in remarks to US troops at the base.
"They would be inviting the kind of confrontation not only do they not want, but they could not stand," said Hegseth, dressed in a green t-shirt and black shorts for physical fitness training with US forces.
"What happens with the future of Cuba is in the hands of... the president of the United States and the leadership of Cuba," he said.
US media outlet Axios reported last month that Cuba had obtained more than 300 military drones and recently began discussing plans to use them to attack the Guantanamo base, US military vessels and possibly even Florida.
Cuba has been acquiring attack drones from Russia and Iran since 2023 and is seeking to buy more, US officials told Axios.
Havana slammed the report, with Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez accusing the United States of baselessly plotting for its next war.

RE: https://mastodon.social/@bagder/116359048796181736
Could be potentially nice for fediverse server testing, as more implementations make the jump to final RFC 9421 HTTP signatures.
On the flip side, ever more complex curl invocations (here: Accept header plus signature fields plus key file, presumably) suggest use of more specialized CLI tools, such as provided by @fedify, or at least scripts/aliases.
Speaking of RFC 9421, which notable fediverse implementations can't handle it yet? Anyone keeping track?

ActivityPub being treated as JSON is a good thing.
1/
Some of us are old enough to remember RSS and blogs.
Some of us are old enough to remember the absurd levels of hype that blogs and RSS attracted — similar to the modern AI hype and recent crypto hype. During that era, it felt like everyone any their pet cat wanted a blog with an RSS feed. During that era, there was a get-rich-quick fever around blogs and RSS.
Web-Browsers even added built-in support for RSS.
@smallcircles @nik @reiver JSON vs JSON-LD is a red herring tbh. The real question is, "do you recognize that other people might do things differently"? If you do, then you recognize that conflicts may arise, and you can try to resolve the conflict. But if you don't recognize even the *possibility* of a conflict, then it's painful for everyone involved. -
Now witness the power of this fully operational Fediverse!
https://shkspr.mobi/blog/2025/11/now-witness-the-power-of-this-fully-operational-fediverse/How can you measure the popularity of a social network site? Perhaps by counting the number of active accounts, or the quality of the discourse, or even how many people reply to your witty memes.
Me? I prefer to look at how many people visit my blog from each site. It is an imperfect measure - and a vain one - but lets me know where I should be spending my time. No point posting on a network which is just bots talking to each other, right?
Earlier this year I built a stats-counter for my blog. Every time someone clicks from a website which links to my blog, it records that visit in a database. I get to see which blog posts are doing numbers, and where those numbers came from.
Until fairly recently, the Mastodon social network didn't send referer details. I thought that reduced the visibility of the network and lobbied for it to change. As various Mastodon servers upgrade, and admins opt-in, it is becoming more apparent just how much traffic originates from the Fediverse.
Over the last few weeks, here's how many people have clicked from BlueSky and Mastodon to one of my blog posts.
Total Source 1,607 bsky.app
752 mastodon.social
At first glance, it doesn't look good for our elephantine friends, does it? The butterfly sends over twice the traffic. Game over!
But, of course, while Mastodon.social is the biggest instance - it is far from the only one. What happens if we slide down the long tail? Here's all the Mastodon-ish instances which sent me over 10 clicks.

51 Sites sending < 10 clicks
Ah! Add them all up and you get a grand total of 1,773 visitors from Mastodon-powered sites. That's more than BlueSky.
Now, there are some obvious caveats to the data:
- I have a smaller follower count on BlueSky than I do on Mastodon.
- My posts may appeal more to one demographic than another.
- People may have strict privacy controls which suppress the true volume of visitors.
- There's no way to measure how long someone spends reading my posts.
- RSS and newsletter visitors aren't counted.
- Clicks from apps may not always show a referer.
- Some people may be on multiple services.
- Fediverse users can follow the post directly, so don't need to visit the site to read it.
And yet… no matter how you slice it, Fediverse servers are sending as much traffic as BlueSky!
I think this is brilliant. Web services should be able to scale from small to big - and each ActivityPub-powered site helps power the open Internet.
Just for completeness, this is how Reddit, Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Lemmy do over the same period:
If you add up all the Lemmy instances, they send about as much traffic as Facebook and LinkedIn combined. That's not a huge surprise - those platforms hate anyone clicking away to the wider web.
Twitter is basically the Dead Internet. I'm no longer on there, but I do occasionally search it to see who is sharing my posts. The popular posts I write get shared a lot - sometimes by accounts with huge followers - yet there are no comments or retweets and barely and clicks.
I don't do Instagram or Threads, and that might be reflected in their low numbers. But I'm not active on YouTube either - yet people there occasionally link back to me.
Final Thoughts
Firstly, my stats only represent my site. Your site might be very different.
Secondly, I've ignored search engine traffic, big blogs, newsletters, and other sources.
Thirdly, and most importantly, this isn't a competition! The desire for a "winner-takes-all" service is dangerous and disturbing. An ecosystem is at its most vibrant when there are multiple participants each thriving in their own niche.
I want a thousand sites, running a hundred different software stacks, some of which only serve a dozen people, or even a lone participant.
Diversity is strength.

@blog@shkspr.mobi Such a great read. Thank you for the thoroughness. I loved this. We need a new way to measure the #smallSocial effect. Right now people saw we fail because they only look at one platform. #BigTech had to invent "monthly active users" to help people understand their "value". They're trying to measure us the same, but we're nowhere near the same. We're an evolution and no one will ever truly know how many of us there are. So I beg folks, don't look at one or two or three instances and say that because some arbitrary number goes down that we're losing or dieing. No no no. We're growing and learning and finding ways that Big Tech NEVER wanted to exist. Just because they use a yard stick doesn't mean we need to be constrained by that. EVERYONE please keep up the incredible work. I'll fight for this the #restOfMyLife. How about all of you?<span class="invisible"> #RomL #smallSocial #smallWeb #fedi #Fediverse </span> -
In *theory* you should be able to follow this test user:
@你好@i18n.viii.fi
But I can't find any Fediverse software which actually supports non-ASCII usernames.
If you are able to see the user, its description, and its avatar - please send me a screenshot

Your so welcome! This is what the open social web is all about! #Atmosphere #atproto #ActivityPub
