Fled the birdsite 3 years ago to mastodon.lol, and when the admin folded that instance in a snit, I was actually approached and invited to join my current instance - the admin even helped with the housekeeping. How cool is that? And the engagement on the fediverse is active, genuine and enjoyable. I have one-third the followers I had on Twitter, and three times the engagement. I’ve encountered a few honest conservatives, very few, and no nazis while here.

@LianaBrooks I would love for it to be, but family and friends are mostly on FB. I live in a pretty small town, and groups and local events are FB dominated. I think that’s part of the stickiness of FB — groups and events. I really love the lack of ads and no algorithm here. It’s refreshing.

I use ActivityPub as my primary social media, yes - at least in a POSSE fashion where my posts then land on Bluesky and wherever else. The fact that my #Friendica account can also browse Bluesky and RSS feeds also helps a lot.

Yes! I love it here. It was hard to give up the “other” social media initially, but I am so glad I did. I just didn’t want to support corrupt billionaires who were filling my feeds with horrible algorithms and relentless ads/ influencers hawking things.

#Mastodon is my only social media since Musk bought Twitter.
I cancelled #Insta at same time.

Yes, this is my main social media (no fb, no insta, no x) anything is deleted 2022finally - only exception currently is #linkedin for my business connections.
After I found my peers on Mastodon I never regretted the step - anyhow as always a fresh start is intense but expands own perspective in the long run!
