It would be so cool if I could use my current Mastodon instance "identity" to join other Mastodon instances.

Why?
Well, my thinking is this. Some instances, like infosec.exchange is "more" aiming for a community around Information Security.
But as a person I'm not just one thing, I'm many things.
Currently I'm more or less forced to either make my home in one place, or create multiple accounts.
But if instances instead were considered communities I could say "Oh... I would like to join this and that community", but still have my "home" somewhere.
Perhaps the solution is not necessarily to make Instances communities but rather extend ActivityPub with some sort of "community" based actor or something.
Let's say there is a Community around Photography in Sweden that I would like to join.
How do I do that today? I don't really see a way for me to integrate "naturally" with that community.
Have other people thought about this? What's your thoughts concerning Community groups, or circles etc?

@nopatience Are you talking about instance local channels or specific groups? There's already support for following groups, just like you would follow any person - for example [@]photography[@]lemmy.ml is a Lemmy discussion group that you can follow from anywhere in the fediverse (https://lemmy.ml/c/photography).

@nopatience i've been thinking about this a lot lately. Specially because i would like https://coapp.io to join the #fediverse #activitypub
I do think that different "accounts" are usefull, since people could follow only one type of content created for a specific community. I currently have several accounts that i use for different content. #pixelfed allows login with #mastodon (OAuth)
Looking forward I did find some discussions about using DIDs, OIDC, etc. Let's talk
