I'm not a fan, because Mastodon is terrible for the types of discussions developers need to have. Doing special things with hashtags does very little to address the limitations of the microblog paradigm.
We need long-form content with screenshots, threaded replies, lists and text formatting. And separate rooms for different areas of focus. All this is offered by the threadiverse platforms.

If anything, what I'm proposing would result in less out-of-context interjections in dev discussions from newbies using microposting apps. Because they wouldn't see most of them by default. Which would be a win-win for them and for us.

definitely not a fan of this. tbh, there should just not be a global feed that new accounts see, because they see a lot of stuff they don't understand or know the community norms for, and that leads to bad engagement.
