@karadoc not *quite* that, per se... the thing that bothers me the most is logical inconsistency and things not making sense. i wish any of this was provably correct. other protocols don't have it this bad. i guess part of the problem is the refusal to recognize actual protocols on fedi, because it's more politically expedient to pretend we're all following the same protocol? not sure

subsequently, i would not necessarily want to notify everyone of every single resource or resource fragment. i would want to be able to send the notification whenever i decided “it is done”.this is i think what the Announce activity may have been intended for? as a way to decouple the act of creation from the act of sharing. but just as validly, you could delay the notification of creation? these are finer details that can be teased out by implementations on behalf of users.

@Claire @dumpsterqueer @dansup deleting posts would also have unwanted side effects because most people don't understand Undo Deleteideally this would be handled with something like a collection for your published posts on a profile, like how youtube does "unlisted" (not the same as mastodon "unlisted"), but that won't get understood eitherseems the fallback people will have to accept is that current impls may/will continue to show these posts?
