Threads is mocking AP users at this point.

Threads users can now "follow" Fediverse users that have replied to a post already existing on threads.

-Cant search for Fediverse users and follow them normally.

-Cant see Fediverse posts if they're not a reply, even if you follow.

-Cant reply or mention a Fediverse user

@BeAware You can follow people on Mastodon from Threads.

This is better than what you can do with X, LinkedIn, Snap, Substack Notes, Reddit, Tiktok, or any other social network.

It definitely needs some work on discovery, but I think that will come.

I see the notifications thing being useful for those who would use it, however, I don't see many opting in to notifications for a users *every* post.

@BeAware Sure. Does your experience with Threads so far suggest they're going to just leave it like that, or that they'll gradually introduce it into the main feed?

@evan well, I'm not sure honestly. Everything they've done so far has had a "but..." Attached. Like for awhile we could reply but only to single users and only they would see it, then they changed that a bit, so I'm still hopeful, but I am quite a bit disappointed with their implementation so far.

Especially given how they said "full federation by the end of the year" and the end of the year is upon us.

It's also important to note that the integration is much better than most other commercial social networks.

I think it's a good idea to keep them honest and moving forward, and I appreciate the steps you're taking.
