"risk to the mastercard brand" is the most idiotic idea I've ever heard. Mastercard doesn't have a "brand" to "risk". I guarantee to most people visa and mastercard exist solely as logos on their credit cards and nothing more. The first and only thing mastercard has ever done that's affected their "brand" happened in the past couple weeks
