@hornblende i kind of really dont like how twitterlike social media even has the concept of a “reply” as this privileged entity in the first place, but yeah “undifferentiated soup” feels like it strikes at what i generally call “the oversimplification of online social communication”
people say certain things are “too complex” as if what we have right now makes any sense.

@hornblende god i wish we had control over what we could show on our own goddamn profiles but i guess this just reinforces the reality that you don’t have any ownership or control in “social media platforms”. it’s not about empowering users
the thing is that corposoc removed customization because it didn’t fit their business needs. the so-called open alternatives do not question the design decisions they unwittingly inherit in their quest for “familiarity”
