@scott There's room for a model where you own the data, but there are at least 2 other models as described above.

Also, I wish these distinctions were made more clear at a protocol level. Both who "you" are, and who "owns" the data.

I also wish you could establish "you" in cases where all of your services go down. Beyond just nomadic identity. Claim your profile on a completely unlinked service that just happens to have your posts, then export, clone, delete, whatever.
