When I asked how to block it from pulling mastodon.art people's posts, I was told he's 'not sure', either block mastodon.social or post privately.
When I kicked up a fuss about not having opt-outs, it was suggested I pull the project and CODE MY OWN.

@welshpixie Uh, why isn't he just mirroring the fedi livestream, which is consent based? jfc.

@artcollisions that's exactly what it was doing -- just displaying posts from mastodon.social/public on that page.
the posts weren't even being saved, they were just being loaded on the page. like how embeds work. basically the same as how an app like Tusky or Pinafore would work.
(this isn't a judgement either way, just a clarification that it was 1:1 exactly what you would see at mastodon.social/public but with a different look)

@trwnh oh, it was just the public posts on .social? Not even the entire fedi? Why are people getting bent out of shape about it then?

@artcollisions i'm... not sure, i just saw the aftermath. but it's "the entire fedi, as seen from mastodon.social". so if you post Public (not Unlisted or Quiet Public), and your post reaches mastodon.social, it would show up in there for a split second before like a hundred new posts would push it out of view.
from what i can tell, it's based on something similar for bluesky here: https://firesky.tv/
