If you post an image I like and don't use alt text even after I've asked, you are giving me permission to download and re-upload the image with alt text.

To be honest, I have just been to lazy to figure out how to do it. Let's see if it works like a link.

@spankmonkey to be honest, I'm not sure if it works on Lemmy. This post was made on Mastodon and relayed to Lemmy outside of my control.

How does ray work? Did one of the hashtags make it end up here?
-

@can yeah, they have a hashtag relaying system that takes posts with specific hashtags and populates the Lemmy community they set it to.

Your instance admin decides which the hashtags correspond to? Because there's many Lemmy communities with the same names just on different instances.

@can Yes, it's per instance, precisely.

What in the world is "boost your post"?
-
beaware@social.beaware.livereplied to tachyontele@lemm.ee last edited by
@TachyonTele I am on Mastodon. Boosting is like reposting on Twitter.

I though the kosher thing to do was to reply to the post with an
#Alt4You
and alt-text description? It certainly is much leaner and faster than downloading the image and re-uploading for nothing (since if the storage is any smart, it's just gonna deduplicate the new copy).

@lambalicious sure but if I do that and they refuse to edit the original post, then it doesn't always help because Fediverse doesn't always propagate replies. At least on Mastodon.️
