Can I ask a dumb question: Why join pixelfed when you can post photos from another decentralized profile? Does pixelfed not ingest from threads, other mastodon servers etc?

Genuine ask because I’ve not looked into it yet. Something I anticipate will be a challenge is maintaining all these different identities when they can all technically end up in the same feed.

For me, this is for a specific niche of posts that my usual followers aren't interested in (I've tried!) *but* has an audience across platforms as a separate one. It's an alt for my hobbies, not my regular posts.

I like PixelFed for this bc my profile is a gallery, it has features that are great for photos (ie. location, not always an option), and it's a helpful way to separate mindsets for a different kind of posting.

Everyone doesn't have to do this, but it's great for my use case!
