@hornblende @lobo in the words of aaron parecki "a single timeline is unsustainable" https://github.com/aaronpk/nautilus#:~:text=a%20single%20timeline%20is%20unsustainable

@trwnh @lobo yeah, I had these in mind
1. multiple timelines
2. useful tag system + strong tagging ethic
3. multiple accounts
4. separate algorithmic For You page
imo #1 is The Way, #2 can kind of be used as an ersatz #1 but requires more active effort on both the posting and browsing side, #3 also works as a #1 surrogate but is unpleasant, and #4 only solves a specific case (“I want both a quiet personal timeline and a more active and varied one”) and also just sucks -

@hornblende @trwnh another idea that might work is the system that fraidycat and cohost use where it shows exactly a few posts from each followed account and then has a vertical list of the accounts themselves instead of the posts. i can't find if anyone's used a specific name for it

@numbers @hornblende basically like a contact list in some chat app or messenger, right?
