@Sunny that's been there for at least 2 years now but was called "unlisted".
It just doesn't show on public timelines. Algorithmic fanfare is misleading. The only algorithm mastodon has, is the one that populates the popular posts on the explore page.

Yeah I know about Unlisted.
That was my point.... "Algorithmic fanfare" is misleading... IF that option is still for Unlisted posting. But it no longer says that.
And... "fewer" has implications as well.

It just appeared when the admin took that instance up to 4.3.4 this past week. On this server/account, the choice is still labeled Unlisted (v4.2.15).
Regardless of whether it changed with the version, or whenever... there's a reason someone opted to change it. I realize you can't derive "trending" unless you apply some decision making criteria (aka algorithm). But the point of that option was to have the post UNLISTED... which implies it ain't goin' on the trending list!!!
I don't understand why poke the bear and call it "algorithmic fanfare" instead.
