@scott I mean checking for `Thread` as a type is fragile. something may fit your definition of a "thread" without explicitly being declared as `type: Thread`. it's like how an actor doesn't have to be Person/Group/Organization/Application/Service; it just needs an inbox and an outbox. or how the `@\context` declaration is optional, but there have been implementations that ignorantly tried to check it contains the activitystreams URI. don't check for what you don't actually need.
