I've been reposting some things lately--things that mean a lot to me. So, if that bothers you, feel free to turn off reposts from me, or you can choose to unfollow. Filters on Mastodon are terrific. Believe me, they can save you from a lot of annoyance, including being annoyed by my posts--and I'm all for that. 🥰

@lynnskyi It would just be nice if all third party clients would treat filters the same or hell even acknowledge them. That said, I'm not bothered by your posts. Just making conversation.

@luv4music1231 @lynnskyi I could be way out of turn here so please forgive me if I am, but have you tried filtering site side and not through the client?
Not trying to be a reply girl, honestly curious if using filters account side on the instance's site works any better.

@LavenderPawprints @lynnskyi I don't think clients like tweesecake and/or twblue respect filgers, even if created on the site, which is stupid. I'd love to be wrong about this.

@luv4music1231 @LavenderPawprints Mona for Mastodon is good with filtering, but that is client specific. It works for me because Mona is all I use.

@lynnskyi @luv4music1231 Okay, yeah, this is very stupid.
So filters in the app don't work, and filters made site side don't work?
I'm not an AP expert, that would be more of @BeAware's shtick, if he doesn't mind me bringing him into this convo, at least I think?
I do use Elk from time to time which does respect filters and is mostly accessible. I do say mostly because navigation could use a little work to make it more intuitive and streamlined.
Elk - Free download and install on Windows | Microsoft Store
Elk is a nimble Mastodon web client with a clean and modern interface, support for multiple accounts, posting in rich text, and more. Plus, it's free and open source!
Microsoft Apps (apps.microsoft.com)
I love it for a lot of reasons, but the navigation is clunky. Better than Pinafore/Enafore or whatever it's called if you ask me, but still needs a little love.
(updated the post to include BeAware as I forgot to @ him.)

@LavenderPawprints @lynnskyi @luv4music1231 Yep, this is definitely an issue with multiple apps unfortunately.
Take Ivory, for example, as I don't use the others you mentioned. Ivory has their own filter rules which are arguably better than Mastodon's own filters in certain ways. Ivory lets you specifically mute hashtags for example. Mastodon originally only lets you mute keywords, you have to add the hashtag yourself. They also have a "potential spam" filter that they've added themselves.
So, that being said, I'm guessing other apps do something similar and those filters don't get updated to the site for those reasons.
That's just a slight guess on what the issue is, because I'm not a dev, I just see what I see and make very decent assumptions on why they're like that.️

@BeAware @lynnskyi @luv4music1231 Thanks man. Apreciate your input.
I don't know all the little details like you and I wasn't about to further complicate this topic by talking out of my tail hole.

@LavenderPawprints @lynnskyi @luv4music1231 Well, while I don't have the exact details, some apps just don't have them send to the site for whatever reason. I just used ivory because I can assume the reason based on their custom filtering options. I can't speak for them or any other dev.
Thanks for thinking of me and trusting me enough to tag me, though. Appreciate it.

@BeAware @lynnskyi @luv4music1231 NP. You know your shit and aren't an ass about it like some others can be.
Do you know what accessibility is like with the app? Like I know you don't use screen readers or any of that, but have you heard anything from other users?

@LavenderPawprints @lynnskyi @luv4music1231 I have not, unfortunately.
To be honest, I feel you have brought me most of my blind/visually impaired following. That's not a bad thing, just saying you might have the better connections in that area.
I'd say "just try it", but it does require a subscription for basic stuff.
Maybe you can get a feel for it before subbing though and see if it works for you.
I also use IceCubesApp as I'm sure you're aware. It's VERY similar, but of course the dev is different, so your mileage will vary in terms of accessibility differences between the two.

The one thing I keep coming backto is how us blind folks are mostly pinned into the Masto side of things, as there's really no Pluroma clients that are accessible to us, and the sites are generally shit. Bubble timeline much?
All the others are the same way. Very inaccessible, and the APIs, as I understand it, operate differently, so the two or three clients we do have that are made within our communities don't bridge the gap. That's not even going into the other fediverse platforms, most of which are really not friendly to our tech uses.
Also, there's the snag that some of us do have some useable vision, like myself for example, and all our clients made in the blind community feature absolutely no image support, which in the case of people like me, means that we're extra reliant on alt text images.
This is why I like ELK. The accessibility is passible though not the best, and I do get image and video support without having to leave the app.

@LavenderPawprints that's very frustrating I'm sure. It does sound like it.
Pleroma is just not a good platform I'd be supporting.
They're the ones with the intentional "Deny delete requests" and "Make followers only posts public" policies that any instance can add at anytime without anyone else knowing it's happening.
I'm staying far away from Pleroma for that reason. I don't even want anyone to think that I'm up to something sus like that.
Regarding other apps with accessibility for visually impaired folks, I wish I had more to offer.
I did boost your post, so just in case there's any blind/visually impaired folks in my circle that haven't connected with you yet, they might see it and offer some advice.
