They could've brought the Play Store to PCs when Microsoft ran the Android Subsystem, but they didn't because doing so would undermine the benefits of Chromebooks.

Now there's this half-baked solution specific to games they'll probably shut down when they try Android laptops for one generation.

RE: https://www.threads.net/@verge/post/DHJTu9LxJJKAnd, for the record, if Google wanted Android to be "open", Android apps would already be everywhere they can - Windows PCs, Fire tablets, Quest headsets, etc.
They're actively choosing to create a worse ecosystem for their users. -

RE: https://www.threads.net/@verge/post/DHJTu9LxJJKMost Android games aren't even optimised for keyboard controls. They're pushing clash Royale and clash of clash to play on PC and both those games are touch based. WSA, was great but it's a shame Microsoft/amazon gave up. They had no chance with play store being biggest app store not bring on WSA

RE: https://www.threads.net/@verge/post/DHJTu9LxJJKWSA runs an Android Virtual Machine on Windows, using Hyper-V. This is exactly the same way Google Play Games work on Windows. There is no difference. Android VM’s on Windows has been there for a long time due to the need for developers to test apps on Android emulator.

So what you're saying is they could have partnered with Microsoft and brought the Play Store to WSA and didn't? Because that's what I'm saying too.
