@julian this reminds me that a while back angus raised the potential for a FEP explaining audience targeting and addressing, which i never actually got around to writing. i think the main challenge is (as always) reconciling what the specs say vs what implementers ended up doing. (example: `audience` gets ignored by mastodon even when it really shouldn't)
