@dxciBel it’s a hard question! i didn’t want to lead with this but my position is that “quote” largely doesn’t exist, it’s actually just a combination of other things (replying, changing context, sending a notification, link preview embed, etc)

but i’m looking for opposing or differing viewpoints first. hence me asking for a broad range of responses.

mostly this matters at a protocol level because the UX is pretty clearly considered for most people already.

@dxciBel the “about” thing is somewhat helpful though, and kind of gets at whether a “response” and a “commentary” are the same thing or different enough to deserve its own property (inReplyTo vs commentOn)
