hardest part of any decentralized standard is getting everyone on the same page, so i was wondering if it made sense to have a central body to at least coordinate among stakeholders.

hardest part of any decentralized standard is getting everyone on the same page, so i was wondering if it made sense to have a central body to at least coordinate among stakeholders. is that a good thing or a bad thing or a necessary thing or an avoidable thing. all i know is that if a central body doesn't have the authority to actually steward anything then what's the point.

authority of course not necessarily being top-down but having as a component some sort of mindshare, some legitimacy, such that recommendations or mandates pushed forward by the stewards (de jure or de facto) aren't immediately ignored by everyone else
