@benroyce also, the fork was mostly done by Alex Gleason, a former Pleroma dev that caused drama there and ended up leaving Fedi for the most part to join Nostr, another decentralized protocol with very little censorship. He also created the Mostr.pub Fediverse to Nostr relay which most Fedi instances have blocked without even knowing by using a blocklist.
