One of the most frustrating things about this app is how it seems to actively go out of its way to throttle self promo. It’s happened so many times to so many people I know. @cult_papa when he shares a podcast. @brooksrocco when he shares his music. @quillmatiq when he posts about BridgyFed. Me when I share a short story/blog post. It’s frustrating. We build these great networks on this app, and Threads makes it very, very difficult to bring those connections out of the app.

Yeah. Threads has numbers, but the quality of interaction on things that go deeper than microblogging is peak on Bluesky and Mastodon.
It's not to say Threads doesn't have a place in the space - they're focused on in-app experience (and it's working!), whereas the others are focused on a broader ecosystem of interaction. Makes sense considering what they're each built for.
