Lemmy and the fediverse entirely. I guess you could also say social media entirely as this was my last vestige of it.

I don't care if I'm wanted or not. I care if a large portion of the fediverse sees fit to censor opinions based on their feelings. Fine if you're moderator on a community based around something that doesn't fit your views but it shouldn't work the same for the entire instance. And it's only really an issue because lemmy.world It's like 90% of the fediverse. If it worked like it was originally designed, there wouldn't be massive controlling interests like Lemmy.world.

Wouldn't be an issue if federation was happening with a whole bunch of tiny instances, but it's one giant and then a few other smaller ones.

The first 6-12 months here (during/right after the Reddit API drama) were great. After that....not so much.

I hate the Reddit app, give me back RIF and I'll abandon this place in a heartbeat. Give me a paid Reddit option to fuck the adds off and Ill take it. Ill pay $20 a month not to have to listen to you neckbeards to try and make literally every conversation about capitalism, linux or Trump.

I came here when the reddit api thing happened, and have since blocked .ml because I don't want to deal with their shit. Problem though, the .ml admins are the lemmy devs, so using lemmy at all supports .ml and their bullshit.
Where else is there? Hive is a crypto scam, and every other option I've seen suggested isn't like reddit or lemmy. I guess there's piefed, but I don't understand how that isn't just lemmy but worse/different (if someone can explain it to me please do).

PieFed is parallel to Lemmy so it's being developed by other people, afaik. I think that's the beauty of the Fediverse, that if you don't like something or someone, you're free to make your own.
If your main gripe is with the devs, then definitely switch. I've been meaning to but I've been lazy. So I guess see you on the other side!

Is there really that much sports on Lemmy?
Every sports team under the sun has its own community; and redundant communities in multiple instances. No idea if those communities are active, or if they're just made, spam /all for a couple days, then fizzle into the void, but I block em every time I see em.
Same with the furry porn instances having a different community for every breed of dog, or anime porn instances having a different community for... reasons? Idk there's no way anime porn is actually that varied, but there are an absolute shitload of them on my block list.
Anyway, yeah it's a lot of work all together, but it's nothing in the scope of a single setting - every time I whip the phone out and browse for a few mins, if I see another one I don't like, I just take the few seconds to block it. Rinse and repeat every time, and it adds up.
Most of the furry and anime porn is on a dedicated instance, just block that and you're done.

i made an account on piefed social, but they block nsfw communities so that's a non-starter. Is there an index of piefed instances similar to how lemmy has join-lemmy org?
