i get so confused when i see people mention anyone with the username “a” who isn’t me (well, technically my akkoma account but…)

i can’t quite recommend everyone follow it because i don’t want that kind of responsibility but i have been running a personal akkoma instance for a while now and yes my username is a, so i have it in my brain a little notifier when i see the graphemes “@“ and “a” next to each other

@katka AZaz09_ is what most “fedi” impls treat as the common subset
i’m not aware of any limits except these two:
- misskey limits you to 128 characters
- mastodon limits you to that subset except you can also use .- but only in the middle of the username. the first and last character must always be AZaz09_
