the other "solution" is to allow using AP to Delete arbitrary past activities, which sounds... a lot worse

@trwnh I was thinking that if we started typing at the TLD end, it would take longer before we reached the point where the browser could show a useful completion. This doesn't make sense, though, because the browser can just match on a substring anywhere in the URL.There I go again, posting rubbish on the Internet. One of these days I'll learn

the key is knowing at least one person and being comfortable with them before branching out to mutual connections, but getting to know that first person when you have zero connections is hard

@fluffy this basically is like a webmention saying “hey we started a forum thread on external-forum to discuss this article” and then the discussion thread is maintained separately from the article. multiple discussion threads can exist. standalone articles can also exist as responses. the replies collection is roughly equivalent to your webmentions for that given article.

basically the whole idea of "you can treat it as plain json" falls apart because producers have to be wrong in exactly the same way as2 is wrong, and consumers have to deal with combinatorial explosion of possible representations which are all equivalent and valid.it's not just busted at the jsonld level, it's also plain bad json. the only reason anything works in fedi is that we all do it wrong in the same way. it creates a mess for anyone trying to make sense of it from the outside, though!

- parole is cute ui but doesn't have a speed option anywhere i can find- celluloid also looks fine but also doesn't have an exposed speed option- baka-mplayer seems okay but it starts up really weird aspect ratio and with part of the video hidden by an unnecessary playlist sidebar- mpc-qt is probably the next best thing to gnome videos but the speed function jumps in 100% increments which is good for 200% but not 150 or 125 or 175- etc etc etc
