This is just blogging, but worse.Oh god, I just realized how much they're going to shove Meta AI into the long-form writing experience

This is just blogging, but worse. If you're wondering how I know it drops open social web compatibility, @justinmixon2 has a helpful preview. The last photo says that long-form will not be shared on the Fediverse.

This is just blogging, but worse. This is just blogging, but worse. Platform-locked (no RSS, email, etc.) and drops open social web compatibility (even though receiving platforms can and do support long-form already).
FYI: Meta has tried long-form multiple times and shut down all of those projects. If you want to create long-form content, use real publishing products that provide versatile distribution tools.

Bounce, the tool that lets you migrate your social graph between protocols, is now live in Beta!Bounce, the tool that lets you migrate your social graph between protocols, is now live in Beta! Today, we're launching one direction: ATProto to ActivityPub. We're so excited to get this in people's hands and to see what it means for the future of taking control of our social graphs from platforms.
Here's what you need to know about what we're launching today:

I got to chat with @shortformernie about how the combo of Bounce & Bridgy Fed is an exit strategy that can help users preserve their communities and relationships in worst-case scenarios like the one in Mississippi yesterday. You can read the full article here:

This is a fantastic intro to the open social web tech under the hood of the Bluesky app.Momentum has *definitely* not slowed down! Just this last couple of weeks, there were launches of both ActivityPub- and ATProto-based projects, ranging from booklist sharing, blogging, git collab, payment services, and more.
If you're interested in the space, you should follow these two blogs to see all the work being done:
- Connected Places: https://connectedplaces.online/
- WeDistribute: https://wedistribute.org/ -
This is a fantastic intro to the open social web tech under the hood of the Bluesky app.Still a huge fan of ActivityPub, btw! But the competition between the two is clearly driving innovation on both sides, and that makes me incredibly happy.

If you have even a peripheral interest in why a whole bunch of nerds like me are excited about AT Protocol, Kuba does a great job of simplifying complex ideas, and I highly recommend giving this a read.
