And if there's an audience that's not just engaging but spending money, then it's not dying.
I'm pushing back on the mentality that any of this is a zero-sum game, not that Threads is a less viable platform.

"Bluesky and Mastodon are dead"On a related note, if anyone has a contact for @kabughazaleh, would love to have her on Bridgy Fed so we can help her successfully fundraise on Mastodon via her Bsky account!

"Bluesky and Mastodon are dead""Bluesky and Mastodon are dead"
Meanwhile, @kabughazaleh: "Bluesky outperforms YouTube, Threads, and our social media ads by about 2:1 per site."
@ben.werdmuller similarly has said @propublica's fundraisers do best on Mastodon.
Dead for whom? Perhaps folks with dying audiences elsewhere.

Had a blast at the DWeb Seattle Gathering last night! And a huge s/o to @nwbrownboi for being there and taking some candid photos! Wasn't expecting it, and now I'm painfully aware of how animated I am with my hands when I speak

Had a blast at the DWeb Seattle Gathering last night!Had a blast at the DWeb Seattle Gathering last night! I got to present about cross-protocol interoperability and how developers should be thinking about building for people, not platforms, on the wider open social web.
Lots of great questions and conversations after. Looking forward to joining the next one! Fediverse Threads -
Got to see my friend @quillmatiq present about A New Social here in Seattle at the DWeb meetup.Thank you for showing up and taking some pics! Wasn't expecting it, but now I'm painfully aware of how animated my hands get when I speak

I, too, am experiencing the glitchiness of the Threads app this morning.I'm honestly okay with all of Threads asking how to use Bridgy Fed tbh
-
Forgive me while I nerd out, but I just followed my Bluesky account (and liked a post!) here on Threads. This post did not contain any content. -
🪐 🪐 A BIG chunk of Fediverse functionality launches today!I've been seeing you interact with my posts on Bluesky for a while now, so I've been excited to see how you've been doing it
great work, and excited for more!

Boom!Everyone complains about the "vibe" of the social network they're already on. While something like an algorithm or custom feeds can aid in curating a vibe, if you follow, have followers, and block folks across networks, you end up creating a vibe for yourself.
Why should we allow a platform to dictate the vibe you want? Seems backward in a people-first network. -
Boom!Yeah, still a ways to go. This interview between @davidimel and @pcottle has some details on two-way:
-
It's just about been a year since Threads started its Fediverse integration, so tomorrow, June 17th around 12:15pm ET I'll be interviewing @pcottle (in a Thread lol) to ask about where the company is at with Fediverse integration, what they've done so ...We're happy to help using Bounce if y'all want it rolled out earlier
-
Boom! We're also really close to launching an easy way for federated Threads users to bridge their accounts over to Bluesky, so keep an eye out for that
Until then, you can bridge yourself by following @bsky.brid.gy@bsky.brid.gy if you don't want to wait for that! -
Boom!Boom! Huge update to Fediverse Threads
With this, you can now also follow folks on Bluesky who are on Bridgy Fed! For instance, you can now see me in the Fediverse feed if you follow @quillmatiq.com@bsky.brid.gy.
And, of course, you can follow my Mastodon and Pixelfed accounts:
- @quillmatiq@mastodon.social
- @quillmatiq@pixelfed.social
The open social web is expanding faster than ever, and I'm so excited to see another huge step by the @threads team. -
Interview will take place in this thread, starting around 12:15.This post did not contain any content. -
