    Is #Pleroma good?

I need to admin a small social media instance for say 10 non-techie people so we can publish photos and text posts. Just for outreach and reminders and event flyers

Mastodon looks heavier and I want something #ActivityPub so it can syndicate across the #Fediverse and bridge to BlueSky (I don't want to run a BS directly if I can help it)

@babble_endanger If you can explain the concept of a separate front end and back end to them, I highly recommend GoToSocial, which is what I use everywhere that isn't this server.

should run fine with 10 users on the $22/year 1GB racknerd or similar VPS

@babble_endanger semaphore is fine, but I mostly end up using the stand alone mastodon front end. https://github.com/owu-one/masto-fe-standalone

@babble_endanger@freeradical.zone how about a forum? NodeBB supports photos and videos in a forum format (not a microblog), if that's your thing <img class="not-responsive emoji" src="/emoji/ap/smiley/activitypub.space" title="😃" />

Pleroma isn't... good but it's not hard to be better than Mastodon. Both of them use ActivityPub and syndicate across the Fediverse though. I don't know (or care to know) how to bridge to BlueSky.

I'd recommend that one image oriented Fediverse software... what was it Pixelfed? There's only one guy developing it though and I think he uh... went to work on something else? I forget exactly. Some sort of drama.

There's uh... SNAC. It's got that Web 2.0 simplicity to it.

Do take a look at fediverse.party it has some good summaries of the different kinds of software available.

@julian I want a timeline that the public can see, though. Maybe a forum can do that too?

@babble_endanger@freeradical.zone yeah! Not a regular forum, but NodeBB having integrated AP, sure.

This is what it looks like on my current server: https://activitypub.space/world?local=1

It only shows those posts that have been either a) written by users on the site, or b) cross-posted/moved into a local category.

The "world" page is a separate part of the site, but there's no reason it can't be the home page, actually.

@babble_endanger maybe @stefano 's LittleFedi could be right up your alleys. It's got tons of neat features; might be worth taking a gander at it. !
