    Meta-question: if I boost a post, sometimes I end up seeing all the replies to it in my mentions, and I have to mute the thread.
    It only happens sometimes though. How do I stop that happening?

      @stib you can turn it off (after it initially starts) https://fedi.tips/muting-conversation-threads-in-mastodon/ I recommend following @FediTips if you’re not already.

        @stib @cptbutton when one replies to a boosted post the booster’s handle is also included by default. i don’t know if there’s a setting to stop that. the replier of course has a choice to drop the booster’s handle.

          @david_coombe_cbr
          It doesn't always seem to happen though. Maybe it's an instance thing..?

            @stib perhaps the apparent randomness is people choosing to drop your handle when you’re the booster. i mostly drop the booster’s handle when replying.

              @stib
              Instance perhaps, but more likely to be due to the application used to integrate with the Fediverse, on the native webapps (for mastodon) the booster handle is NOT included when I hit reply on the boosted toot
              Might be a difference between Mastodon, GoToSocial, Pixelfed etc apps as well, how that software handles boosts, there are a lot projects that interact with the Fediverse in similar but still different ways
