@julian I've changed my mind. I'm mapping all relevant contexts internally to my own. but i'm not happy with that, because it's good for me, but it's not fedi friendly!

I half-ran an #ActivityPub API task force call between leaving the house and getting into my seat on the airplane. Absolutely mysterious.

The Mastodon API could do with an expires_at option for posting non-poll statuses which are useless after a specific date (such as gig notifications, etc.) (Akkoma/Pleroma support it as a custom extension but Mastodon/GotoSocial don't seem to.) (Obviously I can rig something up to remember what's been posted in SQLite and delete/mark them expired when their time is up but it'd be easier if it was part of the general API.) #Mastodon #ActivityPub #API

Looks like a new bridge is being developed, supporting newsreader groups and Lemmy (plus presumably any Activity Pub Groups supported software):https://github.com/rjolina/leNNyTP#activitypub #lemmy #bridges

@virtualpierogi @sri @jsalvador @ben @michiel @nlnetYes, I've noticed that in #FOSS realms there's a rapid change to the development processes that are followed. Where projects no longer allow people to just contribute PR's.In many github projects for instance you should first start a Discussion and get dev team's consent to create an Issue, which you may then create a PR for. Any other direct contributions are either disallowed or immediately closed. There was also this Vouch reputation system that got popularity real quick. And there'll be more changes like that I think.https://github.com/mitchellh/vouchhttps://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=46930961I've been looking at #ForgeFed and how it is set up. Currently it models very much the application model of what constitutes a typical "Code forge", but this is restrictive and going from lowest common denominator between forges. There's opportunity here to focus on the domain of "Software development" and the (social) coding processes between all stakeholders.

Release v3.3.0 of Ktistec adds support for consent-respecting quote posts (FEP-044f). Quote posts represent the most lines of code I've written for any single changelog entry in my life.AddedSupport for consent-respecting quote posts (FEP-044f).Changednext_attempt_at in tasks now means not scheduled when nil.Permit type changes for ActivityPub objects.Important: Quote posts come with a few big caveats. I've been using iterations of this in production for weeks, but if you don't like what you read below you might want to wait for the patch release.FEP-044f quote posts require delicate choreography between quoted and quoting servers. Server support across the fediverse is incomplete and evolving. If a quote post doesn't display it might be my bug, it might be their bug. Expect bugs.Quote authorization is currently all or nothing—you either blanket reject quote post requests (the default) or blanket accept them. I intend to support more granular controls and manual approval but that comes later.Quote authorization revocation isn't supported.Automatic re-verification of quote authorization isn't supported.Compatibility with other quote implementations is incomplete. There will be bugs and more bugs .#ktistec #crystallang #activitypub #fediverse

@silverpill @weekinfediverse i cannot see answers to this post from my instance and if i try to open the link from the comment i want to answer to (https://hub.netzgemeinde.eu/item/ef9b22ce-fae5-4602-9e51-5825535d39ea) i get a 500 error on browser and just no feedback from instanceas i already said under the atproto post, it's easy to spin up clients and services when hosting of the data is unlimited and by VC money and your job just becomes ''invent a cool service which you can monetize at almost no cost because identity and personal data are already offered for free"Mastodon moves slowly for new big features but everytime I try another software I notice the lack of simple stuff that can be allowlists, keyword filter with display, lists management (that sucks on mastodon, but sucks even more on other software) etc etc.

@ocdtrekkie @mapache @badgefed I was not aware of that Should #Sandstorm be added to the #ActivityPub delightful lists? An intent to implement (e.g. in an open issue) is sufficient for inclusion.https://delightful.coding.social

And so comes over the next 24hs, the final issue of #Netribution's 25th year of issues and updates @blog. )…It's been an interesting experiment of using WordPress #ActivityPub Plugin to publish a group blog - alongside an email newsletter. It's been more work than I expected. The only things that got more than a few likes and boosts were about Fediverse people.More recently, changes to either the plugin or Mastodon's rendering has lost the paragraph breaks which makes it not as good for publishing/reading long-form as other APub tools (https://social.coop/@nicol/116091692977030421). The roadmap for the plugin (https://activitypub.blog/2026/02/11/roadmap-2026-charting-the-stars-of-the-open-social-web/) seems more about reading than growing #WordPress to be a Fediverse publishing powerhouse, tho improving discoverability is promising - most of the authors suffer from the "no posts here!" problem when you visit the author urls.Anyway, links should trickle out - finishing with an interview I'm really excited to share, having sat on it for five years…

@thisismissem @deadsuperhero I was looking at #ForgeFed which is a very sizable #ActivityPub extension (constituting the "Code forge" app domain in app-centric view, but arguably "Software development" top-level business domain in a service-oriented fedi). The way that things are modeled here adheres more to the actor model where there's a Factory actor, which in turn creates resource actors that expose various sub-domains. For instance for the management of Issues and PR's there's a TicketTracker actor to obtain via a Factory actor on a forge instance. Though I'm not sure whether I'd modeled that in similar fashion, it is a fascinating direction where we focus much more on good protocol extension design. All in all AS/AP offers a very granular foundation that allows for very interesting architectures, if only we dare explore them and do not dogmatically stick to some engrained notion how "social media" ought to be. I see #SocialMedia as but a small subset of #SocialNetworking.
