Somebody went and built a chatroom powered directly by #ActivityPub, called "Harmony". Roughly the opposite of Movim, Harmony aims to replace Discord and even includes end-to-end encryption (although I wonder if it'll be compatible with the implementation by Bonfire and Emissary). mony.lol/

@csolisr It seems to be a completely new project from just a single, anonymous-looking account, and there are some very wordy PR's where I noticed the message "strip AI slop from source comments" as one of them. Based on that rather quick look at the repo and account, I'd guess it's extensively LLM generated likely without much review. It's also on GitHub and references an X account which is sort of disappointing.
It would be great to get an open source alternative to Discord, though. Stoat (previously Revolt) is one option, but it appears like it's not federated which is a big drawback.

The main icon made me fear it was indeed LLM-generated, to be honest. I might be testing whether the accounts actually have cross-compatibility with other ActivityPub systems, and exactly how. -

@marcusxms @csolisr If you're looking for an alternative that proudly does not use LLMs, I've been developing Shoot for a while

As for actually using Shoot, federation is a WIP but local features work pretty well
