Does any client supports proxying images or links? If that's a client settings, users would control whether to use proxy or not, maybe even which proxy to use.

"Drama" One of the dev teams are literally huge bigots. I agree this community isn't the place for it, that's fine, but I can't help but take issue people refer to real issues as "drama" and nothing more.

/u/user@instance.tld and /c/comm@instance.tld are better because they work automatically, no need for special handling if you're using the web frontend. and also the same should be done for posts so it automatically opens the post on your own instance instead of redirecting you to another website.
