There are, though you have to build the conditions that make people want to act good here. By default they just will be in an arms race to be nasty for the attention, and it takes a lot more people acting pro-socially to offset it. But I was talking about social skills which tend to be missing for a different reason (me included)

I desperately want to become a self-hosting maniac but fuck is it complicated. I spent my whole weekend trying to figure out why I can't ssh into my server after setting up the new ISP only for the server to mysteriously crash after I gave up and reboot to work perfectly without issue. I wanna set up my own matrix for friends who want to escape discord, but I can't find anything about how that will impact the jellyfin stream. I found this thing called wizarr that will let me invite people with setup links instead of manually making accounts and handing them out on text messages, but it needs docker and when I look into how to do that it's all talk about using it as a Developer and I barely know terminal commands, that's like asking me to cast an actual spell. I still don't even understand what a logical volume is or why the recommended guide for jellyfin had me set one instead of just the default Linux file system! This is cool as shit, I love being able to watch my movies anywhere and I get a deep pleasure from digitizing every dvd I can get my hands on, I'd even share them if I could figure out how to send out torrents safely, but I'm in way over my head and I have no one to ask that.

So there's tech that I think is both bad for society and incredibly unethical in it's creation and propagation that is nothing to say of the utter privacy nightmare it poses for its users. But all of this is now okay so long as the person using it is from a disadvantaged enough background? Like, I understand that we want to make extra effort in order to accommodate those with disabilities in our society and part of that can be some moral compromise. But surely this has limits, no? In fact I know that those limits exist. But is it really ableism to defer to those? I'm not saying that the person you encountered wasn't ableist. But there is a lot more nuance there than "people who hate 'AI' are ableist by default". The same way that people who are in favour of abolishing cars in their city are not doing so to specifically take mobility options away from paraplegics.

Does any client supports proxying images or links? If that's a client settings, users would control whether to use proxy or not, maybe even which proxy to use.
